Many thanks to Alan Cooper, Alan Banks, Aidan Angel, Bob Dyer-Hamblett and Mark Fricker who turned up to help with clearing the overgrown sections on the patch today. Work was well underway by the time I arrived at 10:30. Alan Cooper was operating the power scythe which he had collected from the hire shop in Dartford that morning, whilst everyone else raked the cuttings into piles as he went. it … Read More

Despite the dismal weather forecast and occasional short showers, there was a reasonable attendance by a hardcore of guests and members who put on some good displays in spite of the conditions not being ideal. Thank you to John Veasey and all those who put in a lot of effort to make this and all our events a sucess.
The weather having returned to what we normally expect for a summer in the UK has prompted a couple of queries to ask if the events planned for the weekend are going ahead. YES is the answer and we look forward to seeing members and guests on both days. Considering the good dose of rain which we had yesterday it has been decided that jets can fly at the event.
Aaron I’Anson has called to report the very sad news that club member Barry Pelham passed away in hospital this morning. It was Barry’s wish for his Wake to take place at our flying field, so we can arrange something special for him. We will miss him. He was one of life’s characters.
Please note, it has been pointed out that when I submitted details of these events on the BMFA website, I put both events down as being on the 11th. The scale day is on the Sunday the 12th not the 11th. I have emailed the BMFA to amend the date but I don’t know how long they may take to do that. I never made any promises that I … Read More

Hedges in the lane and vegetation on the bank surrounding the field have been cut. Spectacular results. Chairman Bob Ryan deserves a mention as he let the contractor in early this morning and stayed until gone 1pm when it was finished. John Veasey did stand in … Read More

I Trust that everyone is taking advantage of the warm sunny weather to visit the field, if not, why not? We all complain when we have a typical British Summer, i.e. cold, wet and windy, so if you are not already doing so, I would suggest that you get up to the field and get some flying in.
