Your Chairman’s Report – Bickley Scale Day 2024

Well that was a great weekend.

A breezy day on Saturday for the Bring and Buy. It started slowly at around 9 am but by 10.30 the car park was nearly full. I counted 54 cars. There were some really good bargains as usual as well as the usual tat that was sold at the Bring and Buy in May.

A small group of us camped for the weekend and I have to say we had a great laugh on Saturday night. I was incredibly impressed by Dave Wray’s ability to sing very loudly and with confidence but be completely out of tune with every note. And, who knew he was an award-winning Dancer?
Sunday morning was slightly overcast with just a gentle south-westerly breeze.

The weather was absolutely perfect and the number of models and flyers must have been a record. Models of all sorts were there from very small to very large and WW1 to modern electric Jets. No major crashes just the odd minor mishap.

At lunchtime a BBQ was provided for all in attendance. Stewart Keeble assisted by Dave Wray manned the fiercely hot BBQ and did a great job of cooking food. Well done great job.

This year was supported by J Perkins/Futaba who provided us with a trophy which was for best static model. A compound was set up in the centre of the pits area for static models to be displayed. Simon Stanley and Steve Brett were judges. Steve Mansell was the winner with his fantastic Albatross CIII.
I’m not sure what could be done to improve on the day. It was excellent.

Thank you for your support.
